Restless night...

We barely slept a wink last night as the winter storm packed a punch here. The ice hit and every limb on the "mature" (elderly) trees in our backyard were covered in minutes. The longer it rained and iced the heavier the trees got. Soon the yard looked like a frozen over pond and the trees looked like something you'd see on a postcard. Beautiful but dangerous. It was like sleeping in a war zone. We could hear every creek and crack of each and every limb as they fell. And as each one fell we held our breath hoping that a big one wouldn't come through our roof and hurt someone. Around 2am a limb cracked loudly and fell down bringing with it several other limbs and finally landed with the loud sound of shattering glass---in our dining room. Right through our dining room window. No one was hurt and the mess wasn't too bad. It's all cleaned up now and fixed nicely to keep out the cold.
Our power has been off and on so we'll see if we have an event free night tonight...I sure hope so. School is already cancelled for tomorrow. I really doubt we'll have it on Friday either. We'll see.

Awww... I am so sorry this happened to you. Work has been cancelled for me as well for today and tomorrow and they never cancel, but apparently there is no power there. I am very thankful that we have power considering we are literally less than a block away.
