Middle Child Syndrome:)

Today when I took Jackson to pre-school I left Owen at home with Kasey so that Mason and I could have a couple of hours of special time. I know from experience that it's pretty rough being the "middle-child". Poor little guy has started acting out and almost begging for attention. Till now he's been an easy going little 2 year old but I guess as he's maturing he feels left out of the big boy things we do with Jax and out of the baby things we do with Owen. He asked me the other day why I sometimes don't hear him. Ouch.Usually Mason and Owen stay home for naptime while Jax has school (Kasey's office is in our home so he's here if they wake up). But today I asked Mason if he wanted to ride along with me and Jax. As soon as Jackson got into school I said "Mason, lets go have a special day, just me and you." He pumped his little fists up in the air and said "YES". We went to Target (he's my little shopper) and tried on a zillion pairs of flip flops. We hoped it would somehow magically make it spring but that didn't work. It was still about 30 below when we got back out to the car. I carried him in and out of every store and he got to take his blankie right along with us. Since mommy didn't have so many people and things to be responsible for we thought we could keep an eye on blankie too so that "he" didn't roam off. We'd all be SO lost without blankie (believe me:)) We shared an order of tator tots with cheese and he got his very own cherry limeade and didn't have to give a drink of it to any bubbies. I taught him a new song in the car called "I'm Crazy" It's a song about being crazy for Jesus. He's such a funny little singer, he puts a rock n roll twist on every song. You should hear his Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or his Walkin' On A Heaven Road. At the end of the new song we would throw our hands up in the air (just one of mine...I was driving) and we'd yell "I'm CRAZY" . A semi-truck next to us must of thought we were giving him that please honk your horn sign that you do when you pass a big truck, you know, you pump your fist up and down to pretend your pulling the rope that blows the horn and then they honk and everyone cheers in the car. Well, that's not what Mason and I were doing but it was funny that the semi-truck driver honked at us right after we threw our arms up and yelled "I'm CRAZY". After our 2 1/2 hours of fun we headed back to the pre-school to get Jax. On the way home I let Mason decide what we should make for dinner. Without hesitation he said (typed in Mason lingo) "Mommy, I want um...chicken fingers, mash tatoes, dravy, dreen beans, and some of dem roll sangs." So needless to say I think little Mason will sleep happy (and with a full tummy) tonight.

Tina - Welcome to blogging. It is addicting and I like to do it because all the far off relatives can keep up with what the kids are up too.

Plus, they love to read about themselves.
