I love this time of year!

It makes that little girl inside of me beg to come out and play. The grass is growing and turning such a beautiful green. A neighbor mowed theirs today and it made such a warm summery smell. I'm in deep anticipation of the colors to come. Winter here with its drab array of brown and gray, and all around blahness during the cold months makes our house just sit here and become so un-inviting like a cold piece of rock. But never fear, with spring our yard and house will be brightened up with pinks and yellows and oranges and oh' the purple of a petunia- I'm so excited. This time of year when I was small I'm sure I would have been helping to plant this or that at my grandparents' house. Tomatoes, cucumbers, flowers. I can almost smell the hotdogs on the grill and hear the laughter from their patio. I can feel the freeness of bike rides and yard games. I wonder how many games of Kick The Can my cousins and I played in the dark on the big hill. I wonder how many times my aunts and uncles joined in just to recall their younger days. I've never introduced my boys to Kick The Can. We'll have to do that this summer. To bad we won't have the big hill. Our modest backyard will have to do. I can't wait to see Lucy in her first little pink bathing suit. MMmmmm and the smell of sunscreen. I can almost feel my barefeet get toasty by the warmth of sun scorched pavement. Welcome back spring time, and can't wait to see you summer! I've missed your sweet pleasures, your sweet smells, and your sweet moments of childhood. Won't you please stay longer this time?
