First Day of School

Owen started Kindergarten this year. My "stay at home with boys" status for the past 10 years has ended. It was an exciting day for them and they did great. I had a rough day missing them and trying to stay busy. I tried not to think about memories shared during the 10 years of them being babies home with me. Everytime I thought of it I cried. Lucy had her share of tears while missing her bubbies too so we consoled each other.

Ok so It's been awhile...

I never claimed to be good at this multi-tasking thing. Really 4 months isn't that long...right? OK, I feel really guilty. I'll try to catch up in a nutshell.
March...Mason turned 7, (man he's a good boy!) Spring Break in Smokey Mountains was good. Not much rest with a baby in tow though to be honest.
April...Lucy got RSV, Jackson turned 10, (it's hard to believe)
May...Kasey turned 34, I turned 34, Owen scored a perfect score on his Lollipop test and is ready to enjoy a fun summer and getting ready for Kindergarten, Jax & Mason rocked out of school with straight A's all year. So stinkin' proud of those boys that I can't begin to tell you! They both got over 100 AR points and Mason nearly won the bike for getting the most (228), was beat by a 3rd grader...our buddy Reed had a couple more points than he did :)
And now June... Kidney stones for me again, surgery once and will repeat in July. I'm still training for my half-marathon (Chicago/September 11, 2011), running 18-22+miles a week. Doing the normal summer routine with the kids. Got summer pool passes so we spend alot of time there. We're doing summer reading at the local library and each of the boys is working his way through a "Bridge-between" workbook for extra summer curriculum. They took swim lessons for 2 weeks this month and the boys just finished a week at Oakdale summer express camp. We've had picnics, bike rides, and water fights galore. Trying to suck the life out of each and every day. Lucy is everywhere. She's just started learning her colors and singing along (sorta) with the abc song. She loves to color and when she asks it sounds like this..."Mommy-Collee". Its so cute. More to come this summer & pictures too.

Winter Happenings

Its been a cold, snowy winter here and I am so ready for spring. Whoever keeps asking the Good Lord for snow has been blessed plenty....please stop now. The kids are all doing great. Jackson and Mason got straight A's again on their report cards and Mason has already made it to 100 AR reading points for the year. Owen is a little reading machine and can tie his shoes like a pro. Next year in Kindergarten he should be pretty confident. Mason and Owen are both still playing basketball and they're loving it. Lucy is into everything and is a busy busy little lady. In early January, I signed up to run the 2011 Chicago Half Marathon. It's on September 11th. Running again has been a blessing, its such a good stress reliever. I figured I've been having babies for like 10 years and now that I'm DONE, I might as well get back to it, so 13.1 miles...here I come. Kasey has traveled alot this winter which is good for business but rough on "daddy time". We're hangin' in there and can't wait for spring break. We'll be off to The Smokey Mountains again and I'm ready for some serious cabin relaxing. Like hot-tub on the deck with a good book and a cup of cocoa relaxing. Love to All!

Christmas break held a special trip to see the Hoosier's take on Penn State at Assembly Hall. Kasey and I lived in Bloomington for 4 years as newlyweds and our baby Jackson was born there

(on the same week that Kasey graduated from I.U.)

It always feels so good to go "home". We've both been IU basketball fans since we were kids and our boys are following suit. Owen's favorite part (as usual) was the band, especially the red drums which he has asked Santa to bring him last year and this year. Huh, I guess Santa must've not gotten that memo. Maybe next year...wink.

The boys made these super cute fleece hats in their school colors for all of their classmates for Christmas. Jackson had a blast using the sewing machine for the first time.

Now, after making 25 hats he's a pro!

I did the sewing for Mason's class and he helped where he could. Then at the class party, I helped the kids cut the ends just how they wanted them and then they tied them shut themselves.

The Triplets came over to get their Christmas pictures taken this week and we had so much fun. I had my house at like 80 degrees inside to keep them warm while we changed their clothes for different photos. They were so good! Auntie Tina is totally in LOVE! I've never changed such a teeny tiny diaper in my life.

Keep in mind these pictures aren't perfect. I'm not a professional, its just a hobby...I have not tweaked these at all because I don't have Photoshop or any other photo software.

(wish I did... I had lightroom-2 for a 30 day trial and LOVED it....hint hint Kasey)

Anyway, hopefully their mommy can tweak the lighting

on a few of these when she gets them processed.

Jackson's tourney in Owensboro was a great time for all of us! He sacked the quarterback a few times and made some good tackles. We are definately a football family and we can't wait till next year! Good job buddy!

I can't believe its already been a year. The day was spent getting ready for her first big party. I fought back tears most of the day and sometimes the tears won. I held her tight and told her the story of the day she was born (just like I do with her bubbies on their birthdays). I whispered to her how special she is and what it means to me to have her in my life...my daughter.

Jackson's Baptism~ October 31st, 2010

Jackson's request to be baptised was a joy in itself...but watching our little man and feeling his excitement was a blessing that I don't have the words to describe. He was so looking forward to it that he could hardly wait. His decision to show us and his church family the love he has for Christ is by far my proudest mommy moment yet. Kasey and I each had our own special chats with Jax on the morning of his baptism. I told him how much it meant to me that he is growing into a man of God and that it was just that type of character that drew me to love his daddy. I explained to him that this day meant more than any race he could run or any touchdown he could score or any "A" even on the biggest exam.

These are special words from Nana written in a letter to Jackson for his baptism: In Philippians 2:14, 15, 16 it says, you are going to shine like the stars in the universe. You will not run a race in vain.
In every race you run and in every football game you are in, there will always be someone who needs Jesus. The Scriptures say that the Holy Spirit will always give you the words to say. Honey, you are a runner with Good News. He will give you great and mighty revelation concerning His Word.

Autumn 2010

Its been a beautiful Fall season here as usual in Southern Indiana! The boys raked "leaf villages" into our backyard and rode their bicycles ever so carefully on the little winding roads they had made as not to recover the path with leaves. We finished up football (or so we thought) with their last games and they both received trophies. On that day Jackson and the other 9 year olds were asked to compete as a team for a tourney in Owensboro, Ky. It's called the "King Of The Hill Classic". So he has had football practice three times a week for that team and the tourney is this coming weekend. We are looking forward to that... should be a great weekend of football and fun. Basketball started last week for him too so he's been a busy boy!!! He's doing great in 3rd grade, making the Principal's list for all A's during the first 9 weeks of school and is well on his way to earn the same this 9 weeks as well (keeping my fingers crossed).
Mason and Owen will start basketball this week and they are so excited! Mason is also doing well in 1st grade as he made the Principal's list for straight A's as well. He's an AR testing fool earning 300% his goal and testing at a 2nd and 3rd grade level. I'm so proud of their hard work and we love watching that all too familiar Phillips' dedication shine through in all they put their minds to do. Owen is busy hanging out with Lucy and I everyday after I teach pre-school. I'm home by 11 o'clock each morning so we get alot of time together. He is becoming a great reader and loves to help me out with Lucy and with housework. I'm loving this special time with him and I'm so glad we decided to wait another year before we sent him to Kindergarten. Lucy is walking and running and climbing...ugh. She is into everything...good thing she's got 3 big bubbies to help straighten up her messes :) They tend to her every need and live to make her smile and giggle. She's a blessing to our home. We are planning her 1st birthday party and trying to find out where the time has gone and how she could possibly be turning one already.

Owen had a fun little party with his cousins at the splash park. He received some awesome presents. . He has worn his green rain boots that Auntie Stacey and Uncle Aaron got him...everywhere. I can't resist a little guy in shorts and rain boots. Aunt Cathy made him this incredible quilt that is in the shape of a turtle and of course is green (Owen's favorite color). He slept with it and then begged to take it with us in the van all day yesterday.

After a nice "get-outa-town" drive to Cincinnati, we checked into our hotel and then Daddy went right to his Food Show to set up the Frontera Foods booth.

Round two...
I've had this sick feeling in my stomach every time I think about Owen going to Kindergarten lately. At first I thought maybe it was just that Mommy thing. He's my baby boy and he's growing up and all that jazz. But, then I started praying and thinking and thinking and praying and I just don't think the the little guy is quite ready. I mean I think he'd do OK. He's more than ready academically but I don't think his focus and maturity are as fine tuned as I want them to be. Jackson was six when we sent him. Mason was five. I don't regret either of those decisions. While Owen would do fine I'm sure, I really think that he'd do alot better next year. Since Kasey and I have made the decision to keep him home for another year we both feel relief. Owen is even happy with it. I thought he'd be upset because he was so excited. But, I told him that I wouldn't be enrolling him back in pre-school (he's so finished with that) but that I'd be doing some home schooling with him this year. He's pretty excited that he'll have Mommy and Lucy all to himself. He'll be turning five years old on August 9th. He would have been the youngest student in his class. Now next year he'll be one of the oldest. Makes me feel alittle better considering his personality.

Stacey's Baby Shower

Today I pulled off my very first (and only) baby shower. My sis-in-law (and dear friend) Stacey, is due to deliver baby Gracey very soon. Just like me, Stacey was blessed with 3 awesome little boys. We share much in common with the many things we do with our boys. It's always been neat to be out with our 6 boys and just Stacey and I. People always ask if they are ALL ours. We always said that if we had girls we'd do this or that. One day long ago I promised that if she would ever have a girl I would have her a shower. Knowing me well, she knew this was a big deal because baby showers are not my cup of tea. I begged her not to have me a big shower for Lucy (she followed my wishes and gave me a small private shower, which was perfect.) Today was her turn and I have to say that I quite enjoyed myself.

I can't wait to meet my newest niece. We'll share many baked cookies, paint tiny toenails, do arts and crafts, and hang out the way only an Auntie and a sweet little niece can do. I can't wait to see her dressed in pink and wearing sweet ribbons in her hair (if ultrasounds are true - she already has lots of hair...here's hoping) I'm so looking forward to shopping trips with "the girls" on our hips. Lots of good memories are to come!

Today was the last day of football camp. It was really pouring down outside so they had to split the boys up between two gyms to have the final contest inside.

Last night our nephew Samuel was surprised with a ceremony celebrating his 13th birthday. It was a really neat evening with lots of prayers and advice concerning Sam becoming a man, more specifically, a man of God.

This is his Daddy, Aaron. He's telling him exactly why

we are all here at the church waiting for him to come in.

This is Papaw David. He read a letter he had written about Sam

being a miracle and about how he has always prayed for him

and that he always will. (and lots of other stuff too)

This is Papaw Wayne. He also told Sam how much he loved him and that

he should always follow God's word as life begins to change for him. He said he'd always be there for him no matter when, no matter where, and no matter what.

Uncle Eric told Sam that true manhood

and being Christlike are one in the same. And that the best decision he's ever made in is life is to follow Christ. He also said that if he lived another thousand years the one thing he'd want to do is to know Christ more and more everyday.

Uncle Kasey talked about the questions for God that Sam would have as he is becoming a man, he told him that the bible tells us that all you really need to know is to follow and obey what God says.

Aaron then read a letter he had written for Sam. And I would give you all details but we were all crying by this point and I can't really remember the words. But it was very Daddy'ish and sincere. This guy loves his Sammy and wants him to hear from God in his life even more than he has as our pastor. He wants people to be led by Sam's ministry and he wants him to be blessed in all God has for him as a man.

Tears...ugh.

I love how when I feed her she puts her fingers in my mouth.

I love that when she giggles she sounds just like her bubbies when they were babes.

I love how her chubby little leg creases are white and her legs are tan.

Lucy 7 months

Our sweet baby girl is 7 months old!! I can't believe it. It certainly doesn't feel like 7 months since she joined us yet it feels like she's always been here. Life with a daughter has been more than I ever dreamed it would be. She came to us...just a soft little pink bundle. We would just sit with her and soak up every morsel of every second. And now? Well, now my lil' lady is a mover and a shaker. She's sitting up and crawling. She's eating everything in site (and screams this girly pitched scream between every bite because we don't feed her fast enough). She is currently cutting two teeth and pulling up to everything above her level (and bumping her head, ugh I hate that). She plays and laughs and trys her best to sing. She loves her bubbies and they adore her. She enjoys bubble baths and pink painted toe nails. She has begun to pull off her hair bows and her bracelets in order to eat them (we say over and over.."No, no Lucy, we don't eat our pretties"). She started saying "Da Da" just this week (darn it). We've just started teaching her baby sign language to help with the screaming at meal times. We'll see how that goes. She has several nick names. Lulu, Lucy Goosey, Looey, pumpkin butt, Lucy Love, Ladybug, Love bug, Lil' Lady are among them. Poor thing might never learn her real name :) We love you Lucy Claire.

It's so hot outside. Every morning Owen and Lucy and I sit outside in the blazing heat watching our 2 football boys play at camp. But we don't want to miss it so we endure. Yesterday Mason won the first heat of the 1st graders "fastest man" contest. He came in 3rd overall. Way to go buddy! Jackson won 1st place overall for the 3rd graders in the "fastest man" and he also won player of the day. His prize was an old football jersey from BHS. It has dirt stains and rips in it and it fits down past his knees, but he's so proud of it.

It's football time again!!!! Yippee! I love to watch the boys turn into mean, lean, football machines as soon as they hit the field. They LOVE it and I love it that they do! This is Mason's 1st year and he's having a blast. Poor little Owen wants to play so badly. He has to just sit and watch this year but next year he'll be out there pretending he's the biggest, baddest brother that ever stepped out of this house. (I can't wait). Have fun my football boys!

Today I invited all of my nieces and nephews to join me at the pool. It was a perfect day for fun and play! Uncle Kasey used his lunch break to pick up pizzas for us and he even got to swim for a few minutes before heading back to the office. I treasure all of these kidoes and I just hate to think of them growing up. They were so well behaved. I enjoyed every second. People looked at us like we were alittle bit strange as we all trailed out for lunch at the picnic tables (maybe they thought all of those kids belonged to just Cathy & I) Thanks for a great day kidoes! We've been busy here on the home front. Daddy is moving his office out of our home (bitter-sweet) and into a larger office. He and Poppy (and a good friend, Allen) are also opening up a new Eye Care business here in town so we've been cleaning and moving and building and planning and all that fun stuff. We are also planning a baby shower for Auntie Stacey, working on craft show items, and have started getting the pre-school classroom ready for Meet the Teacher Night. Here are some pics of us hanging out on Father's Day. We spent the day at Holiday World then went to our favorite dinner spot and finally to play at the park. Happy Daddy's Day to the best one in the world.

The craft fair at church is on Saturday, July 24th. I just rented out the last of the inside booth spaces available so now we just have outside spaces left. I'm still working on projects for our Soul Deep booth and so are several other ladies from church. The morning of the fair Stacey and I will be making big homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee. Then later on, my 4th and 5th grade class will be having a concession stand. All money made from booth rental and concessions will go to Hope Central as well as all money that is made from our Soul Deep booth. Please pray for no rain and for lots of shoppers :) . The church address is 1877 W. Shelton Rd in Boonville. We are right across the highway from Thersherman's park and they are having events the same day so we're hoping to share in the crowd.

Mine usually sits beside my christmas tree and holds wrapped gifts.

Today we went on a picnic in Henderson Ky with Uncle Tommy and Aunt Valerie and the kids. We played on the playground and then at the river-side splash park. Today after church Poppy and Nana took us out to lunch and to see a movie with Wyatt. Mommy and Lucy stayed home and had some quiet time ;-}

This evening Uncle Tommy and Aunt Valerie came over to visit. We ordered pizza and had a "carpet picnic in the living room." Then Uncle Tommy took us to the park.

While they were visiting Mommy made a couple of tutu's. One for Isabella and one for Macie. (Mommy is taking orders for tutu's for the church's craft show...all $ made goes to benefit Hope Central.)

Yesterday Mommy took us to the skate park. We had a great time. It was HOT outside.

Daddy,

Today Mommy took us to play at a park that we had never been to before. We didn't get to stay long because the wind started blowing and dark clouds threatened to drench us with a downpour. But, we had some fun while we were there. Plus, we found out that they have a skateboard ramp at this park...we can't wait to go try that out with our new skateboards. Especially since Mason broke one of Mommy's flower pots today while riding his skateboard on the back patio. You know, the one that her pre-school class made for her...she wasn't real happy about that. But, he didn't get into too much trouble. Mason gave her his best teary-eyed, "I'm sorry I broke your special flower Mommy, I was trying to do a "grind" trick with my board".
Mommy said she might take us there tomorrow.

(our fingers are crossed and we are giving her our best behavior :>} )

We also went to help Mamaw take care of things at Aunt Cheryl's house while she's on vacation. Here's Mason showing off another one of his tricks (minus his skateboard this time).

Friday June 4th, 2010
Maggie's ballet recital was at the beautiful Victory Theater downtown. We sat up in the balcony to watch as she danced to "Butterfly Fly Away" by Miley Cyrus. The daddies of the girls in the routine waited behind them to the back of the stage as they danced. We all watched her dance the routine and we were so proud of her. As the song played its last verse the daddies twirled their girls around and gracefully lifted them up into big daddy arms. I had tears that wouldn't stop...I'd venture to say that down on that stage Eric was crying like a baby. He's a crying kind of guy normally, so to make it through that routine without tears down his cheeks was probably impossible. Maggie is so beautiful and has such a spirit. I can't wait to see who she'll "turn out to be"! I love you Maggie Moo!

We had a blast at Wesselman's on Friday. However, Owen and his daddy had a little "misunderstanding" that morning and so his punishment was that he had to miss out on our trip that day. The whole time it was like something was missing...it was my Owie :(

I hope he learned his lesson and next time will do just what daddy says so that he'll get to go on our summertime adventures and won't have to stay back in daddy's office with him.

Last Day Of School Awards Ceremony and Picnic

Today it was near 90' outside. It was probably way too hot to sit in a gym and too hot to be out at a picnic in the scorching sun. But to me the events of this hot day were perfect. I don't know how many times I got choked up today about my boys growing up. I sat in that un-air conditioned gym with sweat beading up on my face just waiting to hear my Jackson's name be called. I would have sat there even if it was 120'. My baby is growing up. He has changed so much this year. He received an award and T-shirt for earning over 100 points in the Accelerated Reader Club, Honor Roll Award, Good Conduct Award and a certificate for his summer reading program last year. Jackson finished 2nd grade today reading at a 5th grade level (proud mommy moment :). I sat and watched a slide show of the 5th graders who will be leaving Oakdale and moving on to middle school. I couldn't help but tear up as I looked over at Jackson while the music played some tune that I don't know but the lyrics were something about "You're gonna miss these days". I know I will. I dread that I will. I wanna soak up every single morsel of every day! Three years ago I dropped a scared to death Kindergartner off for his first day of "big school". That seems like yesterday. Now in three years he'll be going to Middle School. (WHAT?) I'm so proud to be this little man's mommy. Jackson finished the year with a total of all A's and 2 B+ 's. Good Job Buddy! Next year he'll have Mr. Long in third grade.
We also got to see Maggie receive her awards for the day. She is so stinkin' cute! Auntie Tina is proud of you Mags! Way to go little lady! She found out that next year she'll have Mrs. Rogier which is who Jackson had this year. Good news because we love Mrs. Rogier :)
I also snuck into Cody's classroom for a minute to get a hug and a picture with his awards. He'll be moving on to Middle School next year. Auntie Tina is proud of you too Cody! Keep working hard.
Mason had his last day of Kindergarten with a picnic at the park. Owen and I joined him with food from McDonald's. We played and got all hot and sweaty...again. Mason mastered all subjects on his report card. They tested his reading level and sent a paper home asking him to read 1.5-2.5 grade level books for the summer. WAY TO GO MASON! He got good conduct also and is very excited that he and his good buddy Alec will both be moving on to 1st grade in Mrs. Baldwin's class together. Mason's happy about that because Jackson had her for 1st grade so I guess he feels like he knows her. Mrs. Schmitt has been a wonderful teacher for Mason. She let me know today that she got Owen in her AM Kindergarten class for next year. She's the teacher that he wanted as well so it's been an all around great day here in our little world:) After picking everyone up from school we celebrated with an ice-cream at Tastee Freeze. I love you boys.

Jackson & Poppy's Weekend Away

Jackson had a special trip with Kasey's Dad this weekend. He played hookey from school on Friday and the two of them drove 6 hours to visit Kasey's older sister, Melanie and her family. This was Jax's longest and furthest trip away from us and I think he (and I) did quite well. He took his DS and a DVD player in the car but said that he didn't play them he just wanted to talk with Poppy the whole way there. He had a wonderful time with his cousins, Nathan & Maggie. They taught him several magic tricks (which we have been very fortunate to get to watch over and over since he has been home). They played basketball, slept outside in a camper, had a hotdog and smores campfire, put on a fireworks display and played Rock Band. He doesn't get to see Nathan and Maggie very often so he was pleased to have them and his Poppy all to himself. Sunday they drove home and on the way they went to Indy to visit Lucas-Oil Stadium where the Colts play. They also went to Indiana University in Bloomington. Jackson was born in Bloomington and Kasey & his Dad both graduated from IU so he was pretty excited to get to have a tour from Poppy. They visited the Optometry building (maybe we'll get another Eye Doctor in the family, ugh?)and went to the football stadium. Seeing the pictures of the campus made me miss it so much:) Funny how life in a sweet little apartment with just me, Kasey and baby Jackson seemed so busy back then. Now we have a mortgage and 4 kids...boy did we have it easy at IU !
David, Thank you for being such a good papaw! I love the way you love my babies. Jackson thinks you hung the moon and that just melts this mommy's heart. We love you!

We miss you. We hope you are being safe on your trip. Tonight we ate a pound of strawberries! Mommy says she'll buy some more for you when you get home. Jackson and Mason played legos tonight and Owen drew lots of pictures. You should have seen Lucy scooting all over the living room! We couldn't keep her on a blanket, she'd just roll around until she got to where she wanted to go. So when I brought the dress-up stuff down from the attic yesterday, the boys dumped it all right in the hallway and you would have thought it was Christmas morning. Owen is going to Kindergarten! He only missed one on his test this morning. Instead of saying a kitten was to the "left" of the mother cat he said it was "beside" the mother cat. So he scored a 67 out of 69. Way to go little guy. Mommy is so very proud of you!

Kasey's birthday was this Sunday. He's an old man of 33...hee hee, a whole 8 days older than me:) We ate Chinese food for lunch and gave him his gifts. He got a frame with lots of pics of him and the kids for his new office (he's moving out of his office at home). The kids also made him a poster that I framed. Jackson drew himself and daddy playing basketball, Mason drew he and daddy mowing the grass, and Owen drew daddy teaching him how to ride his bike at the park. It was also Mother's Day. Kasey and the kids got me a big frame in the living room filled with the pictures that Jada took of the kids. I was super surprised and I love it! Thanks guys. Especially for the chocolates:)

Owen did a great job at his graduation. I still couldn't believe that my baby would be leaving our school and heading off to big school. Oh my....mommy hormones on overload! He and his 23 classmates sang the vowel song, days of the week, month song, and did the Hip Hop Toody Ta. Super Cute. Aunt Cathy was his teacher this year so when she handed him his diploma and asked what he would like to be when he grows up he said "Work in my daddy's company and be a rock star."
It was way too crowded for our building and about a hundred degrees in there but we had a blast. My class surpised me with a memory quilt, so precious. I also received giftcards and many cards/books with words of encouragement and thanks. I really had an awesome group of parents and made some friendships that will last long after this pre-school year is forgotten. The memories we made together are a blessing. I've been especially blessed to have Owen there with me from the beginning. I love that little guy.

It is with absolute delight that I introduce to you the newest member of our growing family. My sister has been an awesome foster mom to Cody for the last 8 months just waiting for all the red tape to be complete so that she could be his mommy and Eric could be his daddy. He is welcomed by his 3 new siblings Noah, Maggie and Chloe. He is now in a forever family and we are so proud to have him. Isn't he handsome?

Lately life has teetered up and down, up and down, up and down. Up is when I have a handle on this gig I have as wife, mommy x4, teacher, sister, daughter, aunt.... thing that is me. Down is when one, some or all of the subcategories of "me" throws me curve balls. Have things really been as busy as I feel like they are or do I make it worse than it is by feelings of guilt when I'm ignoring one subcategory for another?
Jackson turned 9 last Thursday. 9. (long sigh) We had a little surprise party at this rock climbing place. It had my little man's name written ALL over it. I'll post some pictures soon (during my next teeter up).
Pre-School ends this week. Bitter-sweet as usual. I'll miss having my pre-schoolers as a part of my everyday. They really do bless me. They give me a feeling of completion at the end of every school session. I wish I could be a fly on the wall of each of their Kindergarten classrooms. I'd cheer them on when they do their tasks with confidence or I'd urge them to do their best when I can see that they aren't:) I wish I could have a little chat with each of their teachers to come. I'd tell them what I've taken the time to learn about them in the 1 to 2 years that they've been "mine". I'd share what has worked with each of them and what hasn't. Wouldn't that be great if they could just cut out the whole "getting to know each other" phase and just get right down to the spongy like learning that they are so good at? On the sweet side, I'm looking forward to time off with my little lovies at home. I miss having them all to myself without my mind multi-tasking a hundred other thoughts or mentally listing everything I need to get to. They deserve some good R & R with their mommy. I'm looking forward to lazy days by the pool and snack time at Tastee Freeze. I can't wait to smell that all too familiar scent of musty old books that only the combination of summertime and our local summer reading program at the library can bring. I love that smell almost as much as the smell of a classroom packed with new crayons (crayola only) waiting for a new school year to begin. MMmmmm crayons.

Did I mention that Owen and Jackson had a nearly serious bicycle wreck on Jackson's bday? Owen took a little trip with Daddy to the ER for x-rays of his leg and foot. No breaks just bruising. Thank you Jesus. Good thing I'm not in this mommy gig all alone. He loves them even more than I do. He holds their hearts in His hands. Who am I that he has trusted HIS little lovies to me? Lord, give me peace of mind. Drain every bit of stress and confusion from me. Consume every nook and cranny of my thoughts...let them be your thoughts and let me take actions that mirror you and not me.

Kasey was a hurdler in high school. One of the best in the state. This weekend Kasey, Jackson and Mason went to the high school track to play football with some kids from church. Jackson and some of the others tried out the hurdles just for fun. Check out this cool picture that our friend Matt took of Jax jumping a hurdle. Can I say that daddy is just ALITTLE bit proud?
